Green roof shelters
Sustainable shelter solutions combine functionality with biodiversity enhancement.
Versatile shelters that enrich the environment
These versatile shelters create attractive cycle, smoking or bin coverage whilst boosting biodiversity.
Green roof shelters are made to order to suit your requirements. Choose from open or timber-clad designs.
The shelters are compatible with standard ‘Sheffield’ stands for added security.
Wildflower green roofs
Each green roof shelter includes 140–200mm of green roof substrate to support drought-tolerant native wildflowers.
These create nectar-rich habitats for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
Bespoke habitat panels for urban wildlife
Integrated habitat panels turn each shelter into a refuge for species like pipistrelle bats, robins, great tits, miner bees and hoverflies.
Around 90% of the materials used, such as cedar offcuts, rocks, logs, and sheep’s wool, are reclaimed or sustainably sourced. These panels provide nesting and foraging spaces, supporting wildlife year-round.
Optional interpretation panels can be added to educate users and promote biodiversity awareness, making these shelters a valuable learning and engagement tool as well as a green asset.
Ecological benefits and BREEAM contribution
Green roof shelters support sustainability goals and can contribute to BREEAM credits.
With over 46 plant species tailored to local habitats, they enhance biodiversity and ecological connectivity. Their green roofs help manage rainfall through high retention and evapotranspiration, contributing to Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS).
The addition of nesting boxes and pollinator-friendly habitats further boosts their ecological value. These features make the shelters a great fit for environmentally conscious developments and sites looking to improve their sustainability credentials.
