A Biotecture Spring View through 9,000 Glasshouse Panes

With a total of two and a half acres of Biotecture plant nurseries at full, flourishing capacity with living wall planting, spring is truly evident at our Sussex glasshouses

2nd April 2019 | By Miriamme Rose

Our Sussex glasshouses, consisting of over 9000 panes of glass, are at 99% capacity with growing and flowering plants.  These happy, healthy plants are ready and waiting for transportation to their new, living wall homes across the UK and Ireland.  This equates to over 200,000 plants including several main, background species and 30+ spot plants used for colour and texture, such as Erysimum Bowles Mauve and Erysimum Winter Orchid.

“We’ve had a good kick-start to the beginning of the growing period with the unseasonal weather conditions this winter,” says Campbell Thorp, our Plants Manager.

The spring is also a busy time for our award-winning, after-care and maintenance teams, busy attending their pre-scheduled horticultural visits.  Our skilled and experienced teams are fulfilling Biotecture’s after-care contracts, and will be scaling clients’ living walls in a variety of ways from elevators, to scaffolding, even abseiling – ensuring that each spectacular living wall continues to make a striking impact across our urban areas and cities.

Biotecture continue to install and maintain living walls whilst ensuring that our main values of Finesse, Ownership, Clarity & Integrity are integrated into our daily practices – from nursery & installation, through to maintenance & after-care.
