Project Details

  • Second Installation for Centrica
  • Subtle planting plan

Following Biotecture’s successful living wall installation at the Centrica PLC offices in Oxford,  Centrica contacted us again , this time about their offices in Windsor. The Atrium space at the Windsor has a large area of high level wall that the client felt would benefit from some living planting.

The Living Wall helps to absorb and diffract sound that would otherwise be bounced off of the other hard surface finishes. In this busy multi-use space with lots of people chatting and holding informal meetings there can be a lot of noise and anything that can be done to improve the acoustics is a huge benefit.

The design concept for the atrium space was a sun lounge outdoor living room feel with meadow inspired colours and textures throughout. The planting design pattern is of curved ‘lens’ shapes with plants chosen to provide texture and interest. The colour palette of varying tones of green is highlighted with the cream variegation of the Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Aurem’. The overall effect is of a subtle and demure installation. Pops of wildflower colour are injected into the overall colour scheme with the soft furnishings. The effect is a sun drenched relaxed space with a tranquil atmosphere.
