Our approach
The first living wall on the building was installed by Biotecture in 2011. When the site was redeveloped and expanded in 2015, the original wall was carefully dismantled and returned to our nursery.
We were then able to recycle the system into this new 300m² green wall, which wraps around the south and west façades and frames the building’s strip windows.
We collaborated closely with Faithdean, the appointed Design and Build Contractor, to deliver a robust façade-integrated system.
Working in 3D CAD, we coordinated key interface details including flashings, gutters and head junctions, ensuring seamless integration with other façade elements.
The planting design was developed as a bold visual statement, based on a series of overlapping circles.
We used richly coloured foliage and flowering plants layered against deep greens, echoing the occupiers brand and the creative spirit of Camden.
Existing irrigation components from the original project were reused, delivering sustainability benefits and cost savings.
The results
The project created an iconic and dynamic façade in the heart of Camden.
This living wall is now over 10 years old and still thriving, thanks to the resilient BioPanel living wall system, remotely monitored irrigation, and ongoing maintenance by the Biotecture team.
